Vintage Necklace, Glass or Amethyst Stones..

Pretty vintage necklace, amethyst? stones mounted in goldplated metal on an articulated chain. The necklace has a pendant drop of a tear-shaped stone. Item measures 41 cm long. It would date from circa 1950s. Normally I would expect these stones to be glass, but our Duo Tester rates them as amethysts - but I'm still suspicious, as they have enclosed backs. Price reflects this. Excellent condition.
