Victorian Black Lacquer and Shell Inlay Card Case.

Beautiful calling card case, typically Victorian with black lacquer background and floral motif using extensive inlay of Mother of Pearl, with gilded areas as outline or stems. Catch to open and shut works well, and overall the case is in very good condition. Measurements: 10.5 cm long by 7.5 cm wide and 1.14 cm deep. In Victorian times, a lady or gent would carry such a case, containing their engraved calling cards to use much as we use business cards.
