19th century mantel figure of a greyhound with a rabbit. Measures 26 cm tall, 22 cm wide and 8 cm deep. This type of figurine was always made narrow, so it could sit on a fireplace mantelpiece. They are earthenware, and so you get the characteristic glaze crackling. Hand painted. Only one fault - a sliver of glaze absent on the dog's inside leg (see images). Handsome piece. It has an airhole on the upper rear side (nothing under the base), small, not big enough for slip-moulding, so I assume it is press-moulded.
