Small Silver Anointing Spoon.
Traditional Celtic-patterned English anointing spoon (a large version of this is used to anoint a new monarch during the coronation ceremony). Smaller versions often used at baptisms. Sterling silver. It has a full British hallmark for Sheffield 1901 in the last year of the reign of Queen Victoria, and the first year of the reign of Edward VII - was possibly a coronation souvenir. Maker's mark is for James Deakin & Sons - John & William Deakin. Spoon is teaspoon size at 10.9 cm long. The bowl is 2.8 cm by 2.3 cm. Excellent condition. TW: 11.72g.
