Rare Dip Pen, Longmore Patent, Silver and MOP.
Victorian 19th century dip pen, silver (or silver plate, as no hall marks) - stamped “Longmore & Co. Patent. It has a Mother of Pearl stem with silver cap. Pretty engraved design of flowers etc to silver. The pen features a ball under the nib holder which I think holds the ink flow so that it writes more smoothly. There is a little lever which rises or tucks away - don’t know what the function of this is - if anyone knows, please enlighten me! The nib is an old nib I had lying around, it is rusty, and I’ve put it in mainly to demonstrate usage. Any standard dip pen nib would fit. Item measures (without the nib) 10.3 cm long. Very good condition to the mother of pearl and metal-work.
