Pair of Sterling Silver Butter Shells, Cased.
Pretty pair of butter dishes, shell-shaped, in their original case, with a butterknife. Sterling silver, George V period, British hallmarks for Sheffield, 1923, maker's mark GH for Harrison Brothers & Howson - George Howson. The shells each sit on three little ball feet, and measure 13.4 cm by 9.7 cm and 3 cm high. Included in the box is a butterknife, also sterling silver, same maker, but made in 1896. There are slots for two butterknives - they must have been lost over the years, and one odd knife has been put in. One could probably find a pair of suitable butterknives to complete this set. Condition: Each shell has a slight bend in the side edge of the smooth back area (from where you would pick it up). One has a two small bends upwards to the edge of the shell - but hardly noticeable. A very handsome set, in a lovely case.
