Beautiful black opal with fire of green, orange and purple. Mounted in 9ct gold with freeform wire effect around the mount. Stamped 9ct behind the setting. This is probably a doublet, as the back of the stone is enclosed by a gold panel. The band is flay  being 3 mm (0.03 cm) wide. The oval face of the ring is 2 cm by1.9 cm. The actual stone is approx. 1.5cm by just under 1 cm.  Ring fitting is NZ/UK size Q (USA size 8) with an internal diameter of 18.19 mm. Excellent condition. Probably dates from circa 1950 to 1970s.
