Handmade Dorset Linen Thread Buttons.
These are the type of button that rural women made as a home cottage industry in the late 18th and 19th century. Weaving their own patterns onto them, they would sell these to a button-seller who would collect the buttons from their homes. They were made mainly in Dorset, England. This little collection has 36 buttons of approx. 8 mm to 9 mm diameter, 25 buttons of approx. 13-14 mm, and 8 buttons of approx.15 mm diameter. Most are sewn onto bits of card. Very good condition. These may be from a newer craft revival, or maybe antique.
