Georgian Period Plate with Handpainted Cow Scene.
Pretty, early 19th century Georgian period plate, with central hand painted decoration of a rural scene with cows. The border of the plate is blue with dark blue-outlined circles. Gilded edge. The plate has no maker’s name - although there are some underglaze impressed marks on the back. Unfortunately, they are not readable. There appears to be a small repaired rim chip (visible at the rear of the plate, or at least some over-painting of the white porcelain can be seen). Condition is very good for the age of nearly 200 years old - there are a couple of tiny rim nibbles, a few knife marks to the central picture, and a minor hairline at the rear. Plate measures 24 cm diameter (9.1/2 inches).
