Antique brooch, cut steel, with hand-riveted mount, dating from the Georgian period. This type of jewellery was made starting early 1700s, and continuing to late 1800s , with some still made until the early 1930s. This item is from the 1700s to early 1800s. The hand-riveted rear mount has tiny little rivets. The subject is a large flower, with a revolving centre and drop ribbons from which hang little tassels. It has very little damage - mostly just one or two tiny missing beads, and a small new join. Diameter of item is 4 cm and total length is 7.2 cm. The effect is a bit like modern marcasite, but much darker . This is a rare item with age of about 300 years plus.
