Early Victorian Small Wall Plaque.

Unusual small oval wall hanging - Wood base, with mother-of-pearl border surrounding a tortoiseshell pique oval, domed medallion. The medallion could have been once a brooch - it is inlaid with gold and silver detailing, with a floral motif to the centre. Item measures 8.5 cm wide, by 7.1 cm. There are some faults - the pique work in the floral centre has one flower missing, but has been painted in, in silver and gold. There is also some of the fine pique work missing on the bottom left side of the dome. Pique work was made from the 18th to late 19th century, and is very finely detailed work - made traditionally in Italy or France or England.
