Chinese Soapstone Seal, Lohan Monk.

Beautifully carved soapstone seal with the seal being under the base when the figure is upright.  A Lohan is a Buddhist who has achieved nirvana. He certainly looks happy. In his right hand he holds what appears to be a giant feather or perhaps a palm frond. There are 18 Lohans or Luohans, but I don’t know which this one represents. He measures 8.5 cm high by 5.8 cm wide and4.7 cm deep. Excellent condition, a very attractive carving.
