Candle Snuffers, Close Plate.

Antique Victorian snuffers, for extinguishing candles. Scissor action.  Close plate is a method of silver plating used before the invention of electroplating in 1842.  This item could be from the William IV period, or the early Victorian period, somewhere in the 1830s to 1840.  It measures 17.5 cm long. Good action still on the sprung-scissor motion. It has three little legs to stand on when not is use. Some usage marks, and bubbling, all minor.  How to put out candles without burning your fingers!
