Cake Slice, Silver Handle, 1947.

Vintage cake server with sterling silver stem and finial, and silver plate lifter. Serrated edges to the lifter blade. King's Pattern handle, hallmarked for 1947- makers mark for John Biggin, Sheffield.  One fault - the stem has a small gap between the bottom piece of the handle - not all that noticeable, and doesn't affect usage. (This has been caused by immersing the item in hot water - hot water melts the glue that was used in these older pieces - they should only be washed in luke warm water).  Nice item, great for cutting and serving those lemon drizzle cakes.... or whatever.
