Antique Cheese Scoop, Silver Plate.

Very nice cheese scoop, fiddle pattern stem with rat-tail rear to finial. All front and rear sides have two outline details, a pattern called fiddle-thread. Maker's mark is not identifiable, but probably dates late 1800s to very early 1900s. Scoops of this size were used to scoop out soft cheeses, such as Stilton. This one measures 20.5 cm long. The scoop is 5.75 cm long by 3 cm wide. Very good condition, a really nice solid example.
