This rare elaborate Art Deco item is an oval hatbox, containing a bakelite Top Hat, of which you remove the base to find a bottle of the perfume “Mischief”.  (Empty bottle, of course!) Made by Saville of London, and first released in 1939. There is one of these items in the V&A Museum collection.
The outer hatbox is in very good condition (it measures 9 cm wide by 6.8 cm, and 5.4 cm high. Handmade. The top has mottling - caused by standing on display with dust collecting on the top no doubt. But overall is in great original condition. The tophat sits inside the box, and the base of it pulls out to reveal the perfume bottle. The bottle is 4 cm high by 3 cm wide, and is fixed to the base. The top of the bottle appears to be stuck. All in very good original condition. A rare find, and very collectable.
