Old Sheffield Plate Decanter Coaster, Early 1800s.
Very nice Georgian decanter coaster, made by Matthew Boulton, circa 1800 to 1830. Turned wooden base with a medallion in the centre with a crest on it (animal, possibly a lamb, with a rose in its mouth over a crescent moon). Very nice workmanship, in very good condition. Slight copper bleed showing around top of interior rim, around the small vent holes and underneath edge of decorative rim (very fine line, not visible unless upside down). Item measures 5 cm high by 17.5 cm diameter. Will take a decanter with a base up to 12.4 cm diameter.
