Silver plated dish ring (sometimes called potato rings).  Chevron pierced work design to the sides and four small ball feet. These rings or stands were used as a base for your ceramic tureen or any round serving dish - you placed the serving dish on top of the ring, and this kept the hot dish away from the wood of your dining table thereby saving it from damage. Very useful item even today. Stand measures 18 cm diameter and 7.5 cm high.
