Chinoiserie decoration of figures, jars and flowers with lotus pads and wave decoration to the rim. Pretty lid finial, a gilded chrysanthemum.  Gilded rim around the lid. This would have been part of a set of jug, basin, soap dish etc. Long dishes like this were also used for toothbrushes. Item measures 20 cm long ( 8 inches) by9.5 cm (3.3/4 inches) deep and approx. 7 cm high (2.3/4 inches).  Condition: Very good overall - slight wear to gilded rims, one small shallow rim chip inside the lid, and two little chips to the base inside rim. Small orange stain inside. All fairly normal for an item in daily use over 100 years ago. (See photos).
