Small Vesta match tin, (Vesta are the wax matches that were used from late 1800s to early 1900s - you could light them on any rough surface). This one is from Capstan Cigarettes and Tobacco, and would date early 1900s. Round in shape, with a rough surface under the base for striking the match. Made in brass. Measures 3.38 cm high and 2.51 cm diameter. Very good original condition. In the USA these items are called Match Safes.
