Antique Japanese Brass Vesta Case.

Brass vesta - called a match safe in the USA - with a crab and reeds or maybe water ripples as decoration. Spring on the lid still works, and there is a striker area under the base. Vesta was a brand of wax matches - they were not safety matches, and were usually carried in a metal vesta case, to prevent them causing a fire.  This one dates from the early 20th century. It measures 4.5 cm long, by 2.5 cm wide and 1.12 cm deep. Very good condition for the age.
