19th Century Shoe Snuff Box

Little shoe snuff box - made in papier mache varnished black. Opening hinged lid. Details of lace holes on the bridge of the foot, and beautifully detailed nails to the heel - just like a real shoe. In the lid centre is an oval panel which may have been inlaid for the owners initials, but now is blank - inlay possibly came off. It has a fault to one hinge which has come away from the show interior - probably quite an easy fix with some glue. Item measures 8 cm long, 2.7 cm high at the heel, and approx. 2.3 cm wide. Lovely little item, dating from the Regency period to early Victorian (circa 1810 to 1840).
