New Zealand Jadeite Pendant, Toki.

  • NZ$13200

Maori-carved Toki, in green nephrite jade (known as pounamu or greenstone to New Zealanders). The toki is a historic adze or cutting tool, and has a bound top and plaited waxed twine cord. This design signifies a symbol of strength; it is associated with mana and reverence, and can also mean bravery, courage and wisdom. This one is a good size, and measures 5 cm high by 3.5 cm wide and 0.08 cm thick. The plaited twine cord is fully adjustable. Lovely rich dark green, bevelled edges and flat back. Excellent condition. Contemporary.
