New Zealand jade (called greenstone or pounamu locally) pendant, carved in the Maori form of a mere, which was a weapon used by Maori . It gives the wearer strength and courage to do, get through face and achieve anything in life. It signifies high status and authority. This one is hand-carved, and comes with an plaited twine neck cord. Colour is a good dark green. The mere measures 6.9 cm long and 2 cm  wide. Excellent condition. Contemporary.
