New Zealand jade (called greenstone or pounamu locally) pendant, carved in the Maori form of a mere, which was the weapon the Maori used. It gives the wearer strength and courage to do, get through face and achieve anything in life. It signifies high status and authority.  This one is hand-carved, with a carved top area, and comes with a plaited twine neck cord which is fully adjustable. The colour is a good medium green.The mere measures 7 cm long and 2.2 cm  wide. Excellent condition. Contemporary.
