Small Round Poker-Work Box, Kiwiana.

Quaint little box, poker-work poppies to the lid. Pokerwork was very popular in New Zealand  in the 1930s - it was a home craft in the Folk Art style.  Jane Brenkley is the most well-known and collected artist in this field, but many people at home during the war years and earlier made collectable pieces like the one we have here. Stamped mark to the bottom, unreadable. Measurements: Approx. 8 cm in diameter and 4.65 cm high.
