Small antique Mauchlineware circular lidded box, with scene of the “Lovers’ Seat” on the lid.  Seat on craggy mountain overlooks valley below, with a couple standing nearby. Mauchlineware is Scottish made, and was extremely popular for souvenirs in the 19th century, reaching its peak in the 1860s. Decorations were of scenery or notable sights that tourists may have visited. The wood is usually sycamore. This box is rounded inside, so could be for stamps, or collar studs or rings. Measures 2.7 cm high and 6.9 cm diameter (1 inch by 2.3/4 inches).  Very good condition. Mauchlineware is highly collectible.
