Vintage New Zealand Jade and Silver Brooch.

Greenstone brooch (NZ greenstone or pounamu is nephrite jade). This is an elegant bevelled oblong greenstone piece mounted in sterling silver, with solid silver back. Safety chain attached. Hallmark on rear panel of the brooch, under the safety chain attachment pint (see close-up image - stamped STG SIL). Item measures 5.4 cm long by 1.3 cm. Excellent condition, very good quality, would date from 1920s-50s.
