Lucite jewellery is very collectable - it came into favour after the First World War, and was made from the same materials which were developed for use in aircraft canopies  - clear acrylic. It was first marketed in the 1930s. It is popular for its 3D effect, where the subject is encased in the lucite. Backing is usually black which gives a good contrast. This one is an oval brooch, measuring 4.7 cm by 3.9 cm. The little white marks you can see in the photos were dirt specks, and have now all been cleaned away. Excellent condition.
