Antique Vesta case (called match safe in the USA) with storage also for postage stamps. Silver plate, with an embossed picture of the famous Blackpool (England) amusement park and the equally famous Blackpool Tower .
Shaped like a small book with a book-style rear curved spine, the front and rear of the item are on springs, - one side is a case for Vesta wax matches with the striker being on the “page” front, and the other side is for postage stamps, with two sloping panels. There is an O ring at the top for suspending the case on a fob chain - or could be a neck chain these days. Item measures 49.2 cm long, 3.67 cm wide and 1.43 cm thick. Some very light wear to the plate, but no base metal showing. Very good condition. Most unusual item.
