Victorian-style frame loose overlay - overlays were mounted onto wood, with usually a wood or velvet-covered backing and an easel stand. This is an intricate embossed frame, very romantic, with roses and acanthus scrolls. There is a cherub at the top apex, possibly Eros the god of love. In the bottom feet area are two depictions of lovers or cherubs embracing. The hallmark is inside the bottom right scroll, and reads as Sheffield, 1992. Possibly a reproduction of a late 19th century frame. The maker's mark is R.C. (for R.Carr Ltd, Sheffield). It has a repair on the rear, and also has few little creases and indentations. It is a thin layer of silver, so very malleable and easy to straighten out these. It could be repurposed as a frame to a photo or a painting, and mounted on a backdrop encased in a frame with glass. Sold as is.
