Late 1800s Victorian Aide-Memoire Inlaid Notebook.

Very pretty little antique Aide-Memoire - these are which a lady may have carried in her reticule, and on which she would have written shopping lists, things to remember or similar. (Aide Memoire means “memory aid” in French). The front cover is beautifully inlaid with silver and mother of pearl. It has a blank scroll panel, where initials of the owner would be engraved. Made in celluloid, this item has four double sided leaves, with thicker back and front cover. Hinges at the top. There is a little pencil holder attached by chain. (This has no lead in it or cap, and maybe once had a tip).  One writes on the leaves with a pencil, and this can be wiped off when the reminder is no longer needed. Measurements: 7.5 cm by 4.5 cm wide. Excellent condition. Looks not to have been used.
