Large Antique Soup or Casserole Ladle, Silver Plate.

Very good quality ladle - maker is James Dixon and Sons, Sheffield - a well known silversmith company. The maker's stamp is the stamp used from 1879 to the early 20th century. The design of the ladle is an oval bowl, with elegantly curved stem finishing in a fiddle pattern finial with rear rat-tail. Good heavy weight - a really nice piece of silver plate. Large proportions:  the bowl measures 10.5 cm wide by 8 cm from back to front, and approx. 3.2 cm deep Stem is 28 cm long, curved. Total length of spoon is 35 cm. Excellent condition.
