Five Early Booklets of Tourist Info, New Zealand.

  • NZ$3500

Two small boooklets on the Waitomo, Ruakuri and Aranui Caves - “New Zealand’s Limestone Wonders”. They have no publishing date, but one gives a hotel tariff at the “Cargen” in Auckland as being 10 shillings a day, and the other gives a tariff at the Stonehurst Hotel, Symonds St, Auckland as 14 shillings a day - so they must be quite old!
A further booklet “Pocket Guide To Rotorua”  shows the Lake House Hotel with a phone number of “36” and another advertisement shows rental accomodation at the “Rocky Nook”, Whakaue St as being 15 shillings per week.
The fourth book is “City of Christchurch 1922-1923”. Hard-bound cover. It lists all manner of detail - City Councillors, Capital Value of the City (£18,403,026) and the area of 9,792 acres.  Table of fares allowed to be charged for Horse Cartiers, and Motor Carriers, and many other quite fascinating lists.
The fifth book is “The Tourists’ Vade Decum”, being a handbook to the Services of the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand, Limited. Published 1912.  Principal ports visited,  maps, comments on Ports, and histories.
All in good condition, just a few age knocks on the spine/corner of the Vade Decum.
