Small figurehead (for a small boat??) carved as a woman's head - or, if viewed from the side, possibly an indigenous North American Indian head. The figure has a strong profile with high cheekbones and a sightly aquiline nose - very handsome. There are a pair of plain Koru shapes on the  breast area, so maybe Polynesian, although the features are not Polynesian in style. Thick hair with maybe  a cap to one side. Carved from a tree trunk in one piece.  It has the slope of a figurehead, but could also be hung on a wall. Measures:  total length 23cm, total width 12 cm. Weighs approx. 691g.
