Art Deco Small Butterfly Wing Picture, Pierrot and Lady.

Charming little Deco framed scene of lanterns, moonlight and two figures on a terrace. The scene is reverse painted on the glass, and the background behind it is Morpho butterfly wings in pink and mauve which give a pearly iridescent effect. Black bevelled frame with easel stand rear, and the original label “Natural Butterfly Wing” with a patent number and a guarantee. Morpho butterflies are from tropical South America, and they were used as decoration for jewellery and small items in the 1920s, in England.  Item measures 11 cm by 8.5 cm. In very good original condition with some age wear to edges of the black frame.
