Antique Gilded and Decorated Locket.

Victorian period locket, late 1800s, gilded silver with a ornate face of indented border with raised oval plaque.  The plaque is engraved with scrolls surrounding a bird on a branch. The reverse side has a diamond-shaped motif with surrounding acanthus scrolls. The centre of the diamond is a panel for initials. It has never been engraved though.  Inside the hinged locket are two photograph ovals. Item is quite large, as was the fashion in Victorian times, and measures 3.4 cm wide by 4.4cm high not including the large bale. Locket is 1.1 cm thick. Very good condition.  TW: 20.8g.
