This book is Volume IV of the Army and Navy books, which are made up of a series of the magazine, The Army and Navy.  Described as  "Descriptive and Illustrative of Everyday Life in the Defensive Services of the British Empire".  (London, published by Hudson & Kearns, 83-87 Southwark St, London S.E.. and by George Newnes, Limited of 8-12 Southampton St, Strand, W.C.)   The first magazine is dated May 28th, 1897 and the last is October 12th, 1897. Illustrated throughout.  The condition is: Spine intact but loose. Scuffing to corners etc of the hard cover (which has a beautiful graphic). Because of the loose spine, several pages are loose at the front of the book. The flyleaf (or is it the frontispiece) has signatures from the Hamling family, the first being Ida Hamling in March 1898. It is  followed by three other Hamlings in 1944.  Book measures 26 cm wide by 37 cm high and 3 cm thick. Very heavy, weight is 2.6 kilos, plus wrapping and packaging.
