A beautiful antique sterling silver taper stick, in the Georgian style. It stands 11.5cm (4.1/2 inches) high and is 7cm (2.3/4 inches) square at the base. The sconce has an internal diameter of 1.2 cm. It has a very attractive shaped base with classical decoration, and a turned and faceted stem.  The hallmark is for the Edwardian period:  Sheffield (England) 1902. There is an old professional repair to the stem, above the first knob, in lead(?). (See photo). A really lovely piece.
