Royal Schwarzburg Small Handpainted Vase.
Tiny two-handled vase with portrait of a woman, hand painted. Gilded handles and rim. There is a fault on this item, one of the little handles has been off and glued back on. (See image). Some wear to the gilding. The maker’s mark is Royal Schwarzburg, (which was in Thuringia, Germany). It has an unusual older mark for them, with the addition of the name of the portrait and the original artist from which this portrait was copied. “Theodore” is the lady with the roses in her hair, but I can’t decipher the original artist’s name - it
reads “after N. ……” looks like Fichel or similar. Vase measures 4.3 cm high and 5.1 cm wide. The maker’s mark dates early 1900s. Later marks of the same kind have “Germany” on them, but this has just the name, and the attribution. Very pretty little thing for a collector in spite of the handle. Price reflects the damage.
