Estate Sapphire and Diamond Ring.
18ct gold, handmade or hand-finished cast. Three diamonds and two sapphires mounted in claw and grain setting, with pierced scroll details to the sides. This ring would date from early 20th century, and was probably made in Europe. Face of ring measures 4.5 mm by 14 mm.
We have a valuation for this ring, and the details of the stones are as follows:
The central diamond is old European cut, estimated at 0.24 carats, of good old European make, H-I colour, I1 clarity, extra large culet, with a natural cavity to the crown. The two side diamonds are old square Swiss-cut, est. to total 0.13 carats of good quality. Extra large culets. One is chipped (not visible to naked eye) and one has a few natural cavities to crown (also not visible).
The two sapphires are English Square cut, estimated to total 0.34 carats, dark violet-blue with very good colour quality, with abrasions to the crown. (Commensurate with age and having been worn).
The ring is described as being in good condition with a total weight of 2.75 g.
Finger fitting is NZ/UK size O (USA size 7) with an internal diameter of 17.35 mm.
The valuation is for NZ$1500.00 secondhand retail market value, and $3100.00 new comparison value.
