Edwardian Set of Detachable Buttons.
In their original round box, this set of 6 buttons are made in mother of pearl with gilded backs and brass fittings. Dating from circa 1901, they are made to be detachable - the loop fits through the rear ring on the button and then through the button hole. This is so they may be taken off when the item of clothing is to be laundered. Each button measures 1.4 cm diameter (just over 1/2 inch). They are in very good condition. The silk interior of the box lid is very worn, and the box itself has general age wear to the surface. It still closes firmly and is solid, measuring 7.7 cm diameter.
