Car-shaped Sugar Scuttle with Tongs. Early 2th Century.
Novelty sugar holder (or hod or scuttle) for lump sugar - but could be used for loose. Silver plated, it is in the form of a vintage car. Engraved floral pattern to top and sides of car. Wheels turn, so you can push the sugar-car over to another person. Great fun, made early 20th century. Sugar nips are held in the rear handle, but could also be put in one of the two brackets on either side of the front sides. The nips (tongs) are by Bridon Brothers of Sheffield, England, with their mark of 1863-1910. These may not be original to the car though. Good condition all round.
