It comes with a leather travel case, and holds writing paper and postcards with the name Claremont, Killincarrig, Delgany, Co. Wicklow.  (Ireland). Also envelopes, (foxed), and various compartments which hold blotting paper, crisscross straps to hold letters, a small burner used for melting one's sealing wax , and a silver dip pen with finely engraved pattern of flowers and scrolls to the lower part, and a mother-of-pearl handle. The silver may be plated - no hall marks, and no nib. The lock to the writing box lid is gilded, and has \"Patent. London\" stamped on it with an intricate  design of scrolls. The outer travel case: the leather has split along the fold at the top, so the lid is in two pieces. This could be repaired by fitting a sleeve behind the join. The actual writing box is in very good condition. There is normal wear to the foldover of the lid - the crease shows signs of splitting (no doubt the leather has been left for over 100 years without feeding). Apart from that there are a few minor little marks - but overall, it is in superb condition for the age.
