Pair of Silver Pierced Work Bon-Bon Dishes.

  • NZ$25500

Bon-bon or nut dishes, a pretty pair of sterling silver heart-shaped dishes with pierced work sides embossed with ribbons, hearts and flowers. They each sit on three little silver ball feet. British hallmarks for Birmingham 1876. Maker's mark for William Devenport. Dishes each measure 10.3 cm wide and 11.3 cm long. They stand 3 cm high. Condition: One has a couple of small salts marks  on the inside base. The other has two marks where the feet have been slightly forced up into the base. (This is quite a common thing - people often, when putting a dish down, smash it a little too hard onto the table, and silver is very soft). Neither of these little faults can be seen when the dish has contents. These two are a most attractive pair with a very romantic theme.    TSW: 66.5g.
