Ornate embossed vesta case (match safe). Measures 4.8 cm by 4 cm and1.7 cm thick. It has the O ring for a fob chain on the rear edge. Striker underneath. (Vesta matches were wax and came before safety matches - they were usually kept in non flammable containers such as silver or brass, as they could self ignite by rubbing against each other. Gentlemen used to strike them on the grooved ridge at the bottom of the external case - or on the heel of their boots or a handy wall.) The lid spring on the case is not functioning, so lid doesn't stay closed. It has a small area of corrosion wear on the lid, causing small holes.
