Pretty little gold pin or brooch - unusual shape with oval black and white hardstone carving of woman’s head mounted in filigree gold on a gold base with the small spheres mounted to the sides so typical of the Etruscan style popular in the late 1800s. The gold is unmarked, but tests as either 14 carat or 15ct. Below the cameo is a small genuine pearl. Unusual clasp at the rear, which has a little hook set under it to catch the bar. It has a safety chain attached to the lower edge. Brooch measures 2.3 cm by 1.8 cm wide. Excellent condition. Late 1800s.
