Antique 22ct Gold and Rhodolite Garnet Ring.
Very pretty little early Victorian period ring. The stone is a beautiful rhodolite garnet - rhodolite is Greek for the rose stone, and it is also referred to as the raspberry garnet because of its pink/purple tones. It looks very much like a ruby. The hallmark is for 22ct gold, London 1859. Original shank has been strengthened by the encasement of an outer gold mount. Face of ring containing the stone measures 7 mm by 5.5 mm. The shoulders are beautifully chased with foliate style pattern. The shank is 2 mm wide. Ring fitting is NZ/UK size O (USA size 7) with an internal diameter of 17.5 mm. 1.7g TW
