1920's Ivory Flapper's Mirror Necklace with Lion.
Unusual oval pendant with sliding cover to reveal a mirror (for touching up your makeup after all that vigorous Charleston dancing). Made in ivory, it has an engraving lion with coloured inking to the mouth - he is roaring. Very Japanese in style, and probably is Japanese. Suspended on plaited cord with bone screw-barrel clasp, and carved bone round sliding ball. The bevelled mirror has a gilded brass surround. Pendant measures 6.4 cm by 4 cm. Cord is 32 cm long. Very good vintage/antique condition.
