Possibly made as an ashtray - never been used as such though, and has no lip for cigarettes, so useful as a ring or pin dish. Green onyx base, with a cold-painted bronze trout in curved body swimming position attached. Dates from the 1920s-30s. Could make a great desk ornament for a fisherman (useful for paper clips). Measures 5 cm high, and the onyx dish is 9.2 cm diameter. One very small shallow nick on the rim, otherwise excellent condition. Very attractive item.
